Its mission is to "identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity," according to the official website. Getting into the elite society is notoriously difficult and is a privilege reserved for those who score in the top 2% in its famous IQ test.

Mensa's requirement for membership is a score at or above the 98th percentile on certain standardised IQ or other approved intelligence tests, such as the Stanford Binet Intelligence Scales. The minimum accepted score on the Stanford Binet is 132, while for the Cattell it is 148.

The Mensa Admission Test costs $40, takes two hours, and consists of two separate exams: the Mensa Wonderlic® and the Mensa Admission Test. Anyone scoring in the 98th percentile or higher on either gains the right to pay $70 per year for membership.

We have members who range in age from 3 to 105 kids can absolutely qualify and join. We invite gifted youth between 14 and 18 to take one of our supervised, standardized tests, and those under 14 are encouraged to submit evidence of past testing.

The number actually represents how your results compare to those of other people your age. A score of 116 or more is considered above average. A score of 130 or higher signals a high IQ. Membership in Mensa, the High IQ society, includes people who score in the top 2 percent, which is usually 132 or higher.

The average score on an IQ test is 100. Most people fall within the 85 to 114 range. Any score over 140 is considered a high IQ. A score over 160 is considered a genius IQ.
