Delta Dental's Veterans Affairs Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) is administered by the Federal Government Programs division of Delta Dental of California through its subsidiary Delta Dental Insurance Company (DDIC).

A VA rating of permanent and total (P&T) disability is when a single condition is rated 100% and isn't expected to improve over time. Veterans with a P&T rating aren't re-evaluated and receive monthly benefits at 100% for the remainder of their lives. The rating does not change, and the payment isn't reduced.

The VA's Schedule of ratings for dental and oral conditions outlines various conditions and their corresponding ratings, ranging from zero to 100 percent. To receive VA benefits, a minimum dental disability rating of 10 percent is required.

Simple examples of a permanent disability include amputation of limbs, blindness, or paralysis. Bear in mind that to receive P&T, you must meet both of these requirements. You must be both 100% disabled and possess medical evidence that your condition will not improve.

While some Veterans enrolled in VA health care are eligible for free dental care from our providers, many are not. Others may be eligible for free care for some, but not all, of their dental needs. If you're not eligible for free VA dental care, VADIP can help you buy private dental insurance at a reduced cost.

Veterans with a VA 100% permanent and total disability or rated at 100% under IU that is permanent and total are exempt from property taxes on their home. The surviving spouse may also be eligible. Contact your local DVS office or your local assessor's office for more information on how to file for this exemption.

Are dependents and spouses eligible for VA Dental Care? In short, yes, this program for veterans does provide dental care for the spouse and dependent children of most 100% service-connected disabled veterans.

We use a method called the “whole person theory” to determine what we call your combined disability rating. We do this to make sure that your total VA disability rating doesn't add up to more than 100%. That's because a person can't be more than 100% able-bodied.
