Standard Colorado Affidavit of Exempt Sale This form is required by the State of Colorado for any transaction on which an exemption from state tax is claimed for charitable and government entities. The seller is required to maintain a completed form for each tax-exempt sale.

A parcel of land that was used the previous two years and is presently used as a farm or a ranch, or is being restored through conservation practices. Such land must have been classified or eligible for classification as agricultural land during the 10 years preceding the year of assessment.

Predominant use in manufacturing To qualify for exemption, machinery, machine tools, or parts thereof must be used predominantly in manufacturing. If a machine has other uses in addition to its manufacturing use, the manufacturing use must be greater than 50% of all use for the machine to qualify for the exemption.

(a) A seller must verify that the purchaser's sales tax license or exemption certificate is current and valid at the time of the sale. a license or certificate is current and valid, a seller can go online to https://.colorado.gov/revenueonline/ and follow the link to “Verify a License or Certificate.”

The Colorado Account Number is listed on the Sales Tax License as the first eight (8) digits of the Use Account Number. The CAN is located on the upper left portion of the sales tax license.

Colorado – Click “Verify a License or Certificate.” Enter the 7, 8, 11 or 12-digit account number to be verified. Do not include an L or M prefix. Connecticut – Enter the business ID and certificate number. District of Columbia – Click “Certificate License Search.”

The property owner must be at least 65 years old and have owned and occupied the property as his or her primary residence for the 10 years immediately preceding the assessment date.
