This is a portal to file RTI application/first appeal online along with payment gateway. Fee payment can be made through Internet Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card. Through this portal RTI application/first appeal can be filed by Indian Citizen only for the Departments/Public Authorities of the Government of Maharashtra.

Time limits for RTI application and first appeal is 30 days from the date of receipt of RTI application in the concerned office. In some cases it is 45 days if the pio has taken help of other officials.

There are two ways to file an RTI in Maharashtra, follow the steps below, in order to file an RTI application in offline mode. Identify the department to which your RTI Maharashtra query should be sent: Write your questions in the Application: Pay the fees for your RTI Maharashtra Application: Submit the application:

Attach Government RTI Fee in the form of IPO/DD/MO etc as applicable with the RTI Application. Pay fee to " THE SPIO O/O THE TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER MUMBAI ". Provide your full name and address, contact details, email address and sign the application clearly. Put in the date and the name of your town.

For making an appeal to the first Appellate Authority, the applicant has to click at "Submit Appeal" and fill up the page that will appear. The registration number of original application has to be used for reference. As per RTI Act Rules for Maharashtra, fee of Rs 20 has to be paid for first appeal.

The right to information is a fundamental right under Article 19 (1) of the Indian Constitution. In 1976, in the Raj Narain vs the State of Uttar Pradesh case, the Supreme Court ruled that Right to information will be treated as a fundamental right under article 19.
