Contact support

Ohio parents may—and often do—agree between themselves on the amount of child support one of them will pay. But a judge must review and approve their agreement before making it a formal support order.

How long does the child support enforcement agency (CSEA) have to complete the administrative review? The CSEA has 180 days (from the date the CSEA received the request) to complete the review and mail the results to both parties.

Child Support: If you are seeking records about your receipt or payment of child support, we recommend that you contact your county child support enforcement agency. To find the contact information for your local agency, visit jfs.ohio.gov/county.

Ohio law provides criminal penalties for parents who fail to pay support for more than 26 out of 104 weeks, or who owe "arrearages" (overdue child support payments) in excess of $5,000. Special prosecutors handle these matters, and extensive non-payment of support is considered a felony.

You can get started now by filling out an Application for Child Support Services and returning the form to your county CSEA by mail or in person. The CSEA will work with you to take any steps necessary to get your account set up including finding the other parent, establishing paternity, and setting the order.

In order to apply for child support services, you will need: A picture ID. Your children's birth certificates. Social security cards and/or birth letter from hospital. A completed Noncustodial Parent Questionnaire. A completed JFS 07076 – Application for Child Support Services Non-Public Assistance Applicant/Recipient.

Application for establishing paternity and/or child support: If you are not now receiving any Ohio public assistance, you need to complete and submit a form called "Application for Child Support Services, Non-Public Assistance Applicant (JFS 07076)." This form is also available from your county's CSEA.

How do parents request child support termination in Ohio? The child's custodial parent or the parent with whom the child primarily resides must inform the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) of their request to terminate child support. A noncustodial parent may also notify the CSEA of the reason.
