(1) By Written Motion. A respondent may file a written motion to dismiss a petition at any time prior to entry of a civil protection order. If made in writing prior to the entry of a civil protection order, the clerk must schedule the motion for a hearing on the date already set for the trial on the petition.

Cases must be filed by submitting forms called 'Statement of Claim' and 'Information Sheet' in the Small Claims Clerk's Office. The Small Claims Clerk's Office is located in Court Building B, 510 4th Street, NW, Room 120. The party who files the case is called the plaintiff.

Any person who is at least 18 years of age and not a party may serve a summons and complaint.
