The Elevator Safety Division is responsible for implementing the Elevator Safety and Regulation Act through the registration, inspection, and certification of conveyances, and the licensing of contractors, mechanics, inspectors, inspection companies and apprentices.

The Elevator Safety and Regulation Act and our Rules require annual inspections of conveyances. Municipalities with agreements with the State may require additional inspections.

Annual Inspections Every year, you must have a third-party inspector inspect your elevator. If you are a building used for religious worship, you have only 1 elevator/lift in the building, and it only goes 2 levels, then you only need an inspection every three years.
