The acceptance rate at Cal State Chico is 65.3%. This means the school is moderately selective. The school expects you to meet their requirements for GPA and SAT/ACT scores, but they're more flexible than other schools. If you exceed their requirements, you have an excellent chance of getting in.

First-time freshman applicants are required to submit an unofficial high school transcript and two recommendation forms. Fall applicants must submit all documents by January 31st. Upper-division transfer applicants are required to submit two recommendation forms.

California residents and graduates of California high schools will be eligible for admission by earning a 2.50 or greater “a-g” GPA. Any California high school graduate or resident of California earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be evaluated for admission based upon supplemental factors.

We review your trends in grades over time and by subject and look for evidence that you have a solid foundation. In general, students with a 3.0+ GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a steady or upward trend in grades are admitted to CSU.

With a GPA of 3.41, Cal State Chico requires you to be around average in your high school class. You'll need a mix of A's and B's, and very few C's. If you took some AP or IB classes, this will help boost your weighted GPA and show your ability to take college classes.

Undergraduate applicants: The minimum requirement for conditional admission is a cumulative GPA of 2.67. If you do not meet the 2.75 GPA requirement, but have earned a 2.5 GPA or better, you may submit a Special Action Petition for committee consideration.
