July 3, 2017 — Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNSL) announced today it has completed its acquisition of FairPoint Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRP), an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion including debt and based on present equity value.

FairPoint Communications of Charlotte, NC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 26, 2009 and emerged from bankruptcy on January 13, 2011. Ownership of the company was given to the creditors, and the former common shares were cancelled with no value.

In January 2007, Verizon announced the spinoff of wireline businesses in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont to FairPoint Communications, Inc. This transaction closed on March 31, 2008.
