If you can't afford the filing fee, you can ask the court for a “fee waiver” in order to file for free. With a fee waiver, you also won't pay for certified copies, sheriff's service of process fees, court reporter fees, or most other costs related to starting a case.

ORS 21.682(2) authorizes a judge to waive or defer fees if the judge or court administrator finds the party is unable to pay all or any party of the fees. If fees are “waived,” they do not have to be paid. If fees are ”deferred,” they must be paid later.

Fees and costs are required in most civil cases. A list of fees is available at .courts.oregon.gov or from the court clerk. You may ask the court to defer or waive those fees and costs. The court can only defer or waive fees if you are low-income (ing to federal poverty guidelines).

The fee waiver and deferral process is a two-step process and requires that you file a Supplemental Application (Form No. AOCDFGF9F) when there is a final order, decree, or judgment in your case. The court may waive your fees if your financial situation does not change.

Application for admission requires a nonrefundable $40 application fee for domestic students. Transfer students can also receive a fee waiver based on demonstrated financial need. These waivers are approved based on information provided on your FAFSA, so please complete your FAFSA before completing a fee waiver form.

On April 13, 2021, the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners approved a building permit fee waiver for structures lost in the September 2020 wildfires. The fee waiver is for single-family dwellings and accessory structures that burned in the 2020 wildfires that are un-insured or under-insured.

Deferral: To postpone providing a required document until a later phase in the application process. Waiver: To not have to provide a required document as part of an application.

You may be able to request a fee waiver on the application if you've previously enrolled in an Ohio State graduate or professional program, have limited financial resources, or participated in select diversity programs. Waiver requests may cause a delay in processing your application.
