Maryland students must engage in 75 hours of service-learning at a minimum in order to receive a Maryland State High School Diploma. Check with the local education agency in which you/your child is enrolled for specific information on how service-learning hours are earned and recorded in that system.

Student Service Learning (SSL) is a Maryland state graduation requirement. Students must earn 75 SSL hours to meet this graduation requirement.

Volunteer and/or Community Service Hours are not specifically required for high school graduation; however, it is highly recommended for life experience. (It also looks good on that first job applicaton) Additionally Community Service hours are required for all four of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarships.

Students must complete 30 hours of service each year.
