The CBCL is a standardized form that parents fill out to describe their children's behavioral and emotional problems. The version of the CBCL for ages 2 and 3 years (CBCL/2 to 3) can be completed by parents in about 10 minutes. The version for ages 4 to 18 years (CBCL/4 to 18) includes competence items and problems.

The TRF is a parallel form to the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), completed by the caretaker, and the Youth Self-Report (YSR), completed by youths. It is designed for use in conjunction with these measures to give an overall understanding of the child's functioning in multiple environments.

The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) is a widely used questionnaire to assess behavioral and emotional problems. It is often used as a diagnostic screener, but autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are not included in the CBCL for school-aged children.

The ASEBA school-age forms allow you to obtain information about problematic behavior in school-age children from parents, teachers, and, in the case of older children, the youths themselves.

The YSR and the CBCL are also scored on (optional) competence scales for activities, social relations, school and total competence. The YSR consists of 112 questions, scored on a three-point Likert scale (0=absent, 1= occurs sometimes, 2=occurs often).
