Since 1878, the Northern Arapaho have lived with the Eastern Shoshone on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming and are federally recognized as the Arapahoe Tribe of the Wind River Reservation. The Southern Arapaho live with the Southern Cheyenne in Oklahoma.

Weapons used by the Arapahos included bows and arrows, stone ball clubs, jaw bone clubs, hatchet axe, spears, lances and knives. Painted war shields were used on horseback as a means of defense. Women of the Arapaho tribe were responsible for making the clothes worn by the people.

The Arapaho tribe lived in tent-like homes called tepees. Tepees were constructed from wooden poles that were covered with weather-proof animal skins such as buffalo hides.

The Arapaho Indian tribe most likely lived in Minnesota and North Dakota before entering the Plains. The Araphoe were considered to be buffalo hunters of the plains but also have traditions of a time when they lived in the east and planted corn.
