Delaware requires that all educators be licensed and certified or hold a permit in order to provide services to students. The License & Certification office works with educators and their hiring agency to ensure that educators hold the appropriate credentials for their area of employment.

The Delaware First Professional Development System for Early Care and Education and School-Age Programs, commonly referred to as Delaware First, qualifies early childhood education professionals for employment by an early care and education or school-age care center.

The Delaware Public Student Transportation system provides safe and reliable school transportation to all 19 school districts and 25 charter schools in Delaware.

Compensation of school board members. A school board member shall receive no compensation for that member's services.

To become a teacher in Delaware, applicants must earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Teachers must also complete a state-certified teacher preparation program and pass the relevant Praxis core subject tests. Test requirements are specified by grade level and subject.
