OASIS is a data set that measures outcomes of adult home care patients to monitor outcome-based quality improvement. These items are used to monitor outcomes, plan patient care, provide reports on patient characteristics for each agency, and evaluate and improve clinical performance.

OASIS data sets help Medicare and Medicaid calculate reimbursement amounts for home healthcare patients. Information from the assessments is used to assign patients to a Home Health Resource Group (HHRG). The HHRG that a patient belongs to helps determine reimbursement rates under the Prospective Payment System (PPS).

OASIS, or the Outcome and Information Set, is a standardized dataset with two important purposes: it is the basis for determining payment for each 60-day episode of care, and it measures the quality and outcomes of services delivered by home health agency clinicians.
