Ch. 93 §52. This Massachusetts law prevents CRAs from reporting adverse information about a candidate if the information is older than seven years. Under this law, information about arrests and convictions of a crime older than seven years cannot be included in background reports.

The standard background check includes: Social security trace. County criminal records for the last 7 years (all names) Federal criminal records for the last 7 years (all names) National Sex Offender and Federal Watch List.

To request your CORI record, you must submit a CORI Request Form to the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS). Or, you can use the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services' new online criminal history request service called iCORI.

Minimum Background Investigation (MBI). Generally used for Moderate Risk Public Trust positions or Non-Critical Sensitive positions with a moderate risk low point component that requires access to secret information. E. National Agency Check (NAC). The NAC is part of every OPM background investigation.

This type of criminal record check contains only Massachusetts information and is not fingerprint supported. Please note that it may take up to ten (10) business days to receive the results of a CORI request.

It is important to note that process can take up to 10 business days and that you will not be notified when the results of your CORI request are available.
