LPNs and RNs are required to complete 20 contact hours of Continuing Education every 2 years. APRNs are required to complete 80 contact hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.

A Renewal Application must be submitted along with a $60 fee and documentation to prove you've taken the proper continuing education (C.E.) courses. These items have to be sent one month before the expiration date. C.E. requirements are 30 hours of social work coursework that must be taken every two years.

DO THE LIVE WEBINAR CE HOURS COUNT AS IN-PERSON CE? Live webinar attendance is accepted by most states and for most professions as in-person CE. The accreditation bodies require that you are able to participate as if you were present.

LSW and LCSW licensees must obtain 30 CEUs for the 2021 licensure cycle starting on December 1, 2021, and ending on November 30, 2023. Of those 30 CEUs, 50 percent of the total CE hours (i.e., 15 CEUs) must be obtained via face-to-face, in-person instruction.

CE SPONSOR APPROVAL 1. Submit the Illinois Continuing Education Sponsor Application. 2. Forward a fee of $500 in the form of a check or money order made payable to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

You can complete courses in-person or online, in groups or by yourself. They just ask that no more than 75% of your total CEUs be from “self-study”: correspondence, web courses or pre-recorded webinars. However, if an online course includes live interaction with the instructor, it won't count as self-study.
