Code Adam is a missing-child safety program in the United States and Canada, originally created by Walmart retail stores in 1994. This type of alert is generally regarded as having been named in memory of Adam Walsh, the 6-year-old son of John Walsh (the host of Fox's America's Most Wanted).

Hospital Personnel When an employee suspects an infant is missing, she/he should immediately dial 11112 and state, “CODE ADAM”. Also notify the immediate supervisor of the area. Staff will obtain a description of the missing infant/child and provide information to KMCS Security.

A search was undertaken by Adam's mother, grandmother, and store employees, and public address calls were made for him every 10 to 15 minutes. After approximately 90 minutes of fruitless searching, local law enforcement was called. Sixteen days later, Adam's severed head was found; his body was never recovered.

Code Adam, one of the country's largest child-safety programs, is a nationwide initiative named in the memory of Adam Walsh who, at the age of six, was abducted from a department store 25 years ago.

We receive photographs of the children and family members, and these are our greatest tools for creating the age progression. We then base our rendition on the images we receive. Once our images are done, we send them off to law enforcement.

Named after Adam Walsh, the abducted and murdered son of NCMEC co-founders John and Revé Walsh, Team Adam provides rapid, on-site assistance to law enforcement (LE) agencies and families in critical cases of missing children.

Code Adam. Alert Program. Background. On April 30, 2003 “Code Adam Act of 2003” became law. It requires that the designated authority for a public building establish procedures for a child missing in a federal building.
