If you're an active duty service member enrolled in TRICARE Prime, your PCM works with your regional contractor for the referral....If you're registered on the TOL Patient Portal, you can view your referral details by: Logging into the TOL Patient Portal. Active duty family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime need referrals for most, but not all, services that their PCM doesn't provide. Those enrolled in other plans don't need a referral for any type of care, except Applied Behavior Analysis, which is offered through the Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration.

Referrals and authorizations The quickest, easiest way to request a new referral or authorization or update an existing referral or authorization is through provider self-service. *Providers should submit referrals and authorizations (including behavioral health) through self-service.

A referral is when your primary care manager (PCM) or provider sends you to another provider for care that he/she doesn't provide....If you're registered on the TOL Patient Portal, you can view your referral details by: Logging into the TOL Patient Portal. Clicking on Appointments. Clicking on My Referrals.

A valid ID card or CAC alone is not sufficient to prove eligibility; providers must verify eligibility online (log in to the Secure Portal) or through the automated self-service tools at 1-844-866-WEST (1-844-866-9378).

For Active Duty Service Members (ADSM), you need a referral from your Primary Care Manager (PCM) for any care he/she does not provide. For all other beneficiaries enrolled in a TRICARE Prime plan, your PCM gives you a referral for most services that he or she can't provide.
