Total Turnover / Gross Receipts are amount received/receivable from clients in respect of sale of Previous Year. Section 145 relating to Method of Accounting applicable to Section 44AD As per this section the assessees have an option to choose either Mercantile or cash method.

Gross receipts or Turnover mean the total collections of the business. The receipts shall be inclusive of GST. The receipts shall also include delivery charges as well as receipts from the sale of scrap. Discounts given, advances received and money received on the sale of assets should be excluded.

A gross receipts tax is a tax applied to a company's gross sales, without deductions for a firm's business expenses, like costs of goods sold and compensation.

Income or Franchise Taxes. Some states tax the incomes of businesses, but in most cases that taxable income is net income—sales minus expenses. The gross receipts tax doesn't deduct expenses. Other states have franchise taxes, which are similar to income taxes, but they only apply to franchise businesses.

The minimum combined 2023 sales tax rate for Albuquerque, New Mexico is 7.63%. This is the total of state, county and city sales tax rates. The New Mexico sales tax rate is currently 4.88%.

Unlike the gross receipts taxes that are in lieu of income taxes, which tend to be low, the base or state New Mexico GRT is 5%. Municipal and county gross receipts taxes are on top of that and can bring the total GRT rate to 9.3125% (as of this writing).

This tax is paid by the seller of goods (tangible or otherwise) or the provider of services in the state. There are no deductions for the cost of goods or property sold, material or labor costs, interest expense, discounts paid, delivery costs, state or federal taxes, or any other expenses allowed.
