To apply for a marriage license, a man and a woman must each have a valid form of identification, such as a driver's license; a certified copy of a birth certificate; a passport or military identi- fication card; and their Social Security cards. Age requirements: You must be 18 years of age to marry on your own.

The Affidavit of Absent Applicant is to be used to apply for a Marriage License when one party is unable to appear in the County Clerk's office.

An absentee affidavit is to be completed if an applicant is unable to appear personally before the County Clerk to apply for a marriage license. The other applicant may apply for a marriage license on behalf of the absent applicant.

Both persons to be married must be at least 18 years old and unmarried when they submit the marriage license application. They must both present a valid form of government-issued I.D. such as a driver's license or passport.

As per Section 2.001 of the Texas Family Code, a marriage license may be obtained from any county clerk's office. Many Texas counties now offer an online application process.

ABSENT APPLICANT An absentee affidavit is to be completed if an applicant is unable to appear personally before the County Clerk to apply for a marriage license. The other applicant may apply for a marriage license on behalf of the absent applicant.

Blood tests, medical exams, and witnesses are not required in Texas. Your ceremony must be performed within 90 days from the issuing date. If you haven't gotten married before the expiration date you will need to purchase a new license.
