When you apply for a REAL ID compliant driver's license or identification card you will need to present: One document that establishes identity, date of birth, and proof of U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or other lawful status in the U.S.

You must score an 80% or better to pass by correctly answering at least 24 of 30 multiple-choice questions based on the 2023 Maine Driver's Guide. If you are at least 15 years of age, you may apply to get your learner's permit and take the knowledge test.
