A. Functional abilities form for early and safe return to work. is an optional form designed to help workers and employers meet their return-to-work obligations. The FAF can be used as a tool to facilitate return to work discussions between the employer and the injured/ill worker.

Functional Abilities Evaluation FAE is a systematic process of assessing an individual's physical capacities and functional abilities. The FAE matches human performance levels to the demands of a specific job or work activity or occupation. The FAE establishes the physical level of work an individual can perform.

Definition. Functional ability is the actual or potential capacity of an individual to perform the activities and tasks that can be normally expected. A given function integrates biological, psychological and social domains.

What are the two basic categories of functional ability? Personal care and mobility and include eating as well as hygienic and grooming activities such as bathing, mouth care, dressing, and toileting.

Functional ability domains of the FACT include verbal communication, visual cognitive, social skills, executive functioning, self-regulation, and for school-aged children, literacy.

Functional ability is defined as the ability to perform activities of daily living independently without any undue pain and fatigue [9]. Functional ability and physical fitness are linked.

The Tool consists of five scales which evaluate functional level in the following domains: 1) Living; 2) Learning; 3) Working; 4) Socializing; and 5) Self-Maintenance. Self-Maintenance is considered a subdomain of the Living domain.

In the course of daily life, people get out of bed, take baths or showers, use the toilet, dress, prepare meals, and eat. These types of basic functions allow people to socialize, work, or engage in a myriad of other productive and social activities.
