Fees. Permanent and Disabled Veterans placards are free and valid for five years. Temporary placards are free and valid for six months. Disabled plates and Veterans plates cost $11 and need to be renewed when you are renewing your vehicle registration.

The nearest place you can go to get a handicap parking permit in-person will be either your local Department of Motor Vehicles office or your local tax collector's office.

Any valid Handicapped Plate/ Placard displayed will receive a 1-hour grace at ANY parking meter.

(a) Each placard on a motor vehicle and each placard on a rail car must be clearly visible from the direction it faces, except from the direction of another transport vehicle or rail car to which the motor vehicle or rail car is coupled.

NOTE: Organizations that operate a passenger vehicle to transport persons with disabilities must supply the Department with the following: a) A notarized statement of how the placard will be used and the type of services that will be provided. b) The weekly or monthly number of hours that the services are provided.

You may renew, request a replacement and/or complete a change of address for your Persons with Disability Placard online.

Placard Renewals and Replacements Permanent placards are valid for five years and renewed in March or September. Placard holders will be mailed a renewal form approximately 60 days prior to their expiration.
