For instance, an Aerodrome with a reference code 4E can accommodate aircraft with a “Reference Field Length” of 1800m and above and a wingspan up to 65m.

Description. The Global Reporting Format (GRF) is a globally harmonized methodology for assessing and reporting runway surface conditions. The GRF was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to help mitigate the risk of runway excursions. The GRF is applicable globally on 4 Nov.

Essentially, the RWYCC is a number, from 0 to 6, which represents the slipperiness of a specific third of a runway and provides a standardized “shorthand” for reporting this information. A RWYCC of 0 corresponds to an extremely slippery runway and 6 corresponds to a dry runway.

Code F — 65 m (213.3 ft) – <80 m (262.5 ft); 14 m (45.9 ft) – <16 m (52.5 ft) Figure 3: ICAO Design Code: 747-8 compared to 747-400. The 747-8's wingspan and main-gear span are only slightly larger than those of the 747-400, but the new airplane is classified as Code F while the previous models are Code E.

ICAO SARPs relating to runways are determined ing to runway length using the standard Runway Code categories. Code 1 runways are less than 800 metres long, Code 2 runways are 800-1199 metres long, Code 3 runways are 1200-1799 metres long and Code 4 runways are 1800 metres or more in length.

As an example, the airport reference code 4F shows that the airport has runways of a width of over 60 meters and a length of over 1,800 meters. Airports with the 4F code are recognized as first-tier hubs, with notable examples being London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).

Annex 14 of the Convention on the International Civil Aviation Organization contains the basic standards and recommendations (SARPs) for the aerodromes. Annex 14 refers to various manuals, procedures and circulars. The annexes, procedures and circulars may not be printed due to copyright restrictions.

Non instrument code number 4—A runway with a 60-meter strip length and 75-meter strip width that is intended for the operation of aircraft using visual approach procedures.
