- Column 8 requires you to enter total taxable miles subject to fuel tax for each jurisdiction, so verify definitions with those jurisdictions if needed.
- Calculate the taxable gallons for each jurisdiction in Column 9 by dividing the figures from Column 8 by your average MPG calculated earlier.
- Document the gallons purchased containing tax in Column 10, adhering to the stipulation that these figures may differ from your taxable gallons.
- Multiply the net taxable gallons from Column 11 by the tax rate in Column 6 and enter the result in Column 12, marking any credits in brackets if applicable.
- If filing late, calculate the interest due in Column 13 based on the tax due from Column 12, noting any applicable penalties for late payment.
- Add the totals from Column 14 for all jurisdictions to discover your overall due amount in Line 15.
- Complete Line 16 if penalties apply for late submission of your return.
- For Line 17, report any credits from previous returns if applicable.
- Fill in Line 18a for total due and Line 18b for total refund if applicable.
- Finally, ensure that you sign and date the form. To submit, follow the instructions provided on mailing or electronic funds transfer for payment.
