The CAM test for psychiatry is a structured assessment used to evaluate cognitive status, utilizing the Cam Questionnaire Form. It helps psychiatrists identify conditions like delirium and other cognitive disorders. This test aids in distinguishing between different mental health issues, allowing for tailored treatment plans. By incorporating the CAM test, professionals can enhance patient care and outcomes.

The criteria for CAM focus on identifying cognitive dysfunction through the Cam Questionnaire Form. This includes assessing features such as acute onset, fluctuating course, and inattention. By evaluating these criteria, healthcare professionals can effectively diagnose cognitive impairments. This systematic approach leads to better management and treatment options.

The CAM assessment criteria include several essential components derived from the Cam Questionnaire Form. These criteria examine factors like attention, orientation, and cognitive processes. Each component plays a vital role in measuring cognitive health. Utilizing these criteria ensures a comprehensive evaluation of an individual's mental status.

The CAM score is calculated using a specific formula that evaluates various indicators from the Cam Questionnaire Form. This assessment focuses on key areas such as cognitive function and behavior. Each response on the form contributes to a total score, which helps determine the level of cognitive impairment. Understanding this process can help you better interpret the results and make informed decisions.

The DI assesses the severity of 7 symptoms of delirium: inattention, disorganized thinking, altered levels of consciousness, disorientation, memory impairment, perceptual disturbances, and psychomotor agitation or retardation. Each item is scored on a scale from 0–3, with a maximum possible score of 21.

The CAM-ICU score is a validated and commonly used score to help monitor patients for the development or resolution of delirium. It is an adaptation of the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) score for use in ICU patients.

Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) Diagnostic Algorithm This feature is shown by a positive response to the following question: Was the patient's thinking disorganized or incoherent, such as rambling or irrelevant conversation, unclear or illogical flow of ideas, or unpredictable switching from subject to subject?

Scoring the CAM-S: Rate each symptom of delirium listed in the CAM as absent (0), mild (1), marked (2). Acute onset or fluctuation is rated as absent (0) or present (1). Add these scores into a composite. Higher scores indicate more severe delirium.

The final CAM-ICU-7 score ranges from 0-7 with 7 being most severe. CAM-ICU-7 scores were further categorized as 0-2: no delirium, 3-5: mild to moderate delirium, and 6-7: severe delirium.

The CAM rates four diagnostic features, including acute onset and fluctuating course, inattention, disorganized thinking, and altered level of consciousness.
