Get W2 Address Change Request Form

If you talk to your employer and find out someone sent your form to the wrong address, have them re-send the W-2 to your correct address immediately. If you don't have time to wait for the new form, you can file Form 4852, Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement.

Don't panic! The incorrect mailing address in your Form W2 will not affect your taxes, and you can use the same W-2 form while filing your income tax return. You are not required to file a W-2 Correction.

You should use your current address so that you can receive responses or updates to your filing. Don't worry if your mailing address on your W-2 form is wrong or has since changed. This won't affect your taxes.

It doesn't matter if it's different than the mailing address you will use on your tax return. You need to enter your W-2 information as it appears on your W-2.

If your address has changed, you need to notify the IRS to ensure you receive any IRS refunds or correspondence.

Relocating may not impact your federal tax filing. You can still file just one federal tax return with your new official address.

To change your address with the IRS, you may complete a Form 8822, Change of Address (For Individual, Gift, Estate, or Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Returns) and/or a Form 8822-B, Change of Address or Responsible Party — Business and send them to the address shown on the forms.

It's acceptable if the address on your W-2 does not match your current address. When you file your taxes, the different state and local amounts will be rectified.
