A Buyer Tag is temporary registration for a motor vehicle until a dealership completes the title and registration process. On July 1, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles will no longer issue temporary paper tags and instead will issue a metal one. This new law aims to combat fraudulent use of paper tags and enhance public safety. When I bought my 2024 M3P back in August 2024, I received my metal plates after only a month! In order to transport your newly acquired inventory from point A to B, you will need temporary tags or metal dealer plates. Starting July 1, Texas will replace paper temp tags with metal plates, ending a system exploited for fraud. Dealers in Texas can now use metal dealer plates and must issue Temporary Tags.
