The ABCDEF bundle includes: Assess, Prevent, and Manage Pain (A), Both Spontaneous Awakening Trials (SAT) and Spontaneous Breathing Trials (SBT) (B), Choice of analgesia and sedation (C), Delirium: Assess, Prevent, and Manage (D), Early mobility and Exercise (E), and Family engagement and empowerment (F).

The ABCDEF (A2F) bundle is one way to align and coordinate care, which includes specific focus on delirium as a component of the overall care patients receive including sedation and pain medications, breathing machines, and mobilization.

The ABCDE bundle incorporates awakening, breathing, coordination (or choice of sedative), delirium monitoring and management, and early mobility on a daily basis to minimize potential deleterious effects from prolonged hospitalization, including the development of delirium.
