A DUNS number is a nine-character, numeric, unique identifier assigned by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). DUNS numbers are assigned (for each physical location) to businesses, organizations, etc. that wish to pursue contracts or grants from the United States federal government.

On April 4, 2022, the federal government stopped using the DUNS Number to uniquely identify entities. Now, entities doing business with the federal government use the Unique Entity ID created in SAM.gov. They no longer have to go to a third-party website to obtain their identifier.

DUNS numbers are issued by the physical location of the organization. Therefore, some organizations may have multiple DUNS numbers. Use the DUNS number associated with the location of the organization that is doing business with ARS.

To obtain a DUNS number access the following website: https://fedgov.dnb.com/webform/ or call 1-866-705-5711. This number is entered in block 8c (on Form SF-424, Application for Federal Assistance). The organization name and address entered in block 8a and 8e should be exactly as given for the DUNS number.
