A monogram logo contains one to four letters, most commonly a company's initials or first letter. It's used instead of a traditional symbol, turning a company's identity into an eye-catching visual. Of course, the initials become the key part of the logo. In your design, they need to be legible but also memorable.

Traditionally, a monogram reads First Name Initial, Last Name Initial, Middle Name or Maiden Name Initial. With the Last Name Initial being the larger Middle Initial.

If a person uses initials for only part of their name, use periods (J. R. R. Tolkien). If a person uses two or more initials to abbreviate their entire name, do not use periods. (FDR, MLK). Latin abbreviations like etc., e.g., c., and i.e. always use periods.

A traditional 3 letter monogram is the person's first name initial on the left, the last name initial in the middle & larger, and the middle name initial on the right. If the monogram is for a married woman, it has been traditional to substitute her maiden name initial for her middle name initial on the right.

The reason why the last name traditionally goes in the middle is because the last name is most important and should stand out! Example: Mary Rachel American, whose monogram would look like: Married Ladies: First Name, LAST NAME, Maiden name (or middle name if you prefer).

Traditionally, a monogram reads First Name Initial, Last Name Initial, Middle Name or Maiden Name Initial. With the Last Name Initial being the larger Middle Initial. For example, if you had the name Kelsie Elizabeth Vogds, her monogram would read KVE.

First, middle, last; with all initials being the same size is the most traditional style. But a stacked monogram is another nice option, where the first initial is stacked on the middle initial and the last initial is large to the right.

A classic personal monogram typically consists of three initials in the natural order of first, middle, and last name. If there is no middle name, then the monogram is simplified to only two initials, first and last name. All of these letters are the same size and alignment creating a block monogram.
