FedLoan Servicing originally managed federal student loans through the Myfedloan platform. However, the recent transition to new servicers has led to changes in how student loans are managed. Currently, loans are being reassigned to various servicers, which means Myfedloan as a platform is retiring in favor of refined services that better meet your needs.

FedLoan and AES (American Education Services) are both owned by parent group PHEAA (the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency). PHEAA was founded in 1963 to manage loans granted through the Federal Family Education Loan Program.

Sometimes we need to transfer a borrower's federally owned loan between members of our federal loan servicer team, which changes the servicing assignment for those loans. We also transfer loans when borrowers sign up for programs, such as Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has transferred the customer service of your federal student loan account from your current federal student loan servicer to MOHELA, another member of ED's federal loan servicer team.

On July 8., The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (often referred to as FedLoan) announced that it would not renew its contract with the federal government. FedLoan oversees the loans of 8.5 million student borrowers, which have been or will be transferred to a different servicer by the end of the year.

Transfers of these programs from now-defunct FedLoan Servicing to MOHELA began in July 2022. If MOHELA is your federal student loan servicer, here's what it can help you do. Register for online access to your account. Once you have access you can contact MOHELA, access your monthly billing statements and pay bills.

What happens if FedLoan was your servicer? As of Dec. 14, 2022, all FedLoan borrowers were transferred to one of the following servicing companies: MOHELA, Edfinancial, Aidvantage (formerly Navient) or Nelnet.
