A Site Plan Exemption is a small-scale development or zoning compliance review conducted before filing for or obtaining a building permit. Approval of a Site Plan Exemption is NOT a building permit but is a requirement before a building permit can be approved.

Site Plan Permits Site Plans are reviewed for compliance with Austin's Land Development Code Chapter 25-5 Site Plan (LDC). A Site Plan Permit is required for any site work on a non-residential site or a change of zoning use unless it meets the requirements for a Site Plan Exemption.

All Decks or landings require a permit. Any deck over 30” and/or attached to the house require a building permit.

Do You Need a Building Permit? The City of Austin specifies a permit is required when you plan to “erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, improve, remove, convert, move, or demolish” a building or space within the city's jurisdiction.

The Austin Transportation Department's Parking Enforcement officers and Austin Police Department officers, and in some cases trained volunteers, are authorized to enforce parking regulations within the City of Austin right-of-way.

Parking meters are enforced Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. Parking is $2 per hour from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. is a flat rate of $5. For paid time that continues after 6 p.m., the $5 flat rate is added to existing payment and parking expires at 3 a.m.
