What is a T2033 (CRA form T2033) ? This exciting number is the name of a transfer form you need to fill out to transfer RRSP funds between two institutions (say, you're changing stockbrokers, or you want to move your GIC to a mutual fund at a new company) without having to deregister the funds.

The T2151 and T2033 are CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) forms that are used when directly transferring funds from one registered investment account to another. The T2151 is used for transferring RPPs and DPSPs while the T2033 is used for transferring RRSPs, RRIFs, SPPs and PRPPs.

What is a T2033 Form Direct Transfer Used For? This form covers almost all transfers between two registered savings or retirement accounts, including transfers made due to marriage breakdown or for non-residents.

You are able to transfer an RRSP to a different financial institution by authorizing the transfer of your funds. You can initiate the transfer through the receiving financial institution. One or both of the financial institutions involved may charge you a transfer fee.

Annuitant – the person who is entitled to receive payments from an RRSP or a RRIF. Individual plan number or individual fund number – the individual account, contract, certificate, or other identifier number that the RRSP issuer, RRIF carrier, or RPP or SPP administrator assigns.

Marriage breakdown involves dividing up the funds within the registered plans of both partners. A T2220 (Transfer from an RRSP or a RRIF to another RRSP or RRIF on marriage breakdown or common-law partnership) is required to be completed and sent to Head Office.

You can use Form T2220, Transfer from an RRSP, RRIF, PRPP or SPP to Another RRSP, RRIF, PRPP or SPP on Breakdown of Marriage or Common-law Partnership for transfers to a RRIF or an SPP transfer. For transfers to an RRSP, Form T2220 must be filled out.
