Filling out the SRCO Registration form with SoundExchange is a crucial step for performers and copyright owners to manage their rights effectively. This guide will provide you with clear and supportive instructions to successfully complete the online registration process.
Follow the steps to complete your SRCO Registration online.
- Click the ‘Get Form’ button to obtain the SRCO Registration form and open it for completion.
- In the General Information section, specify who you are registering for. Choose either ‘Yourself’ if you are registering on your own behalf, or ‘Someone Else’ if you are registering on behalf of another person or a group. If choosing the latter, ensure to prepare a SoundExchange Authorization form for each person you register. Next, indicate what role you are registering as by selecting one of the following options: ‘Performer’, ‘Sound Recording Copyright Owner (SRCO)’, or ‘Both’.
- Fill out the Contact Information section with accurate details of the person completing the form. This should include their birth date, gender, and government-issued photo ID that verifies their identity. If you represent performers, include the Primary Contact Authorization Form. Provide the name of the solo artist along with any associated band names and the percentage of royalties claimed.
- In the Payment Information section, specify the name of the entity receiving payment and select either ‘Individual’ or ‘Company’. Choose your preferred payment method: Direct deposit requires banking information and a voided check or an authorization letter from your bank. Alternatively, you may select to receive a paper check.
- Complete the Tax Withholding section by submitting form W8 or W9 if necessary. SoundExchange will use this information to determine the appropriate tax withholding rates. If you choose to receive payments directly, prepare to submit additional forms if applicable.
- Before submitting the registration, carefully verify all the entered information to ensure accuracy. Take the time to review each detail thoroughly.
- If applicable, opt-in for membership to allow SoundExchange to collect your international royalties. This requires signing Membership and Mandate agreements.
- After your registration has been processed, create your login credentials for SoundExchange Direct, which will facilitate account management. You will receive an email from an Account Services representative with instructions.

Yes, even if you have SoundExchange, you may still need to register with the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC). The MLC covers mechanical royalties from streaming and downloads, while SoundExchange handles digital performance royalties. To optimize your royalty collection, consider both registrations, including SRCO Registration - SoundExchange.
