Get California Athlete Agent Registration

As per the California Legislative Information website, the Miller-Ayala Act is defined as: "Existing law, the Miller-Ayala Athlete Agents Act, regulates specified activities of an athlete agent in representing or seeking to represent student athletes and professional athletes.

Athlete agents are regulated by Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Applicants must be at least 18-years-old, pass a background check, and pay the required application fee of $630. It can take some time before the DBPR processes an athlete agent application.

Athlete Agents in Georgia must register with Georgia's State Regulatory Commission and the Uniform Athlete Agents Act (UAAA) and post a surety bond before they are eligible to contact an athlete. An Athlete Agent or Professional Sports Agent has a $10,000 bond requirement for registration.

Anyone who recruits student athletes in Florida must have an athlete agent license. Unlicensed athlete agents can cause significant harm to student athletes and their academic institutions. Violations of the law could result in loss of scholarships, removal from the team, or criminal penalties.
