How to fill out the Environmental Inventory online
Filling out the Environmental Inventory, also known as the Riparian, Channel and Environmental Inventory (RCE), is a process designed to assess the condition of small streams in agricultural landscapes. This user-friendly guide provides clear instructions for completing the form accurately and efficiently.
Follow the steps to complete the Environmental Inventory online.
- Click the 'Get Form' button to access the Environmental Inventory and open it in your preferred online editor.
- Begin by entering your personal information such as your name, date, and location of the stream you are assessing. Ensure that all details are accurate for a valid assessment.
- Proceed to assess the first characteristic: the land-use pattern beyond the immediate riparian zone. Select one of the four provided scores that best describes the landscape through which the stream flows.
- Evaluate the width of the riparian zone from the stream edge to the field. Choose the score corresponding to the condition of the riparian zone observed during your assessment.
- Assess the completeness of the riparian zone. Document any breaks in vegetation and score accordingly based on the extent of integrity.
- Evaluate the vegetation within 10 meters of the channel, selecting a score that reflects the density and type of flora present.
- Assess the presence of retention devices such as logs or rocks within the channel. Choose a score that matches the observed conditions.
- Evaluate the channel structure, including width-to-depth ratios. Score according to the observed conditions and functionality of the channel.
- Document the characteristics of channel sediments and bank structure. Assess for sedimentation and the stability of stream banks.
- Score other characteristics such as undercutting, substrate feel and appearance, stream bottom conditions, and riffles or pools patterns.
- Finish by evaluating aquatic vegetation, fish presence, detritus depth, and macroinvertebrate diversity within the stream.
- After assessing all characteristics, sum the scores to determine the overall stream condition class using the guidelines provided.
- Finally, save your completed form. Options for sharing, printing, or downloading the Environmental Inventory may be available.

Tier 2 and TRI reports serve different purposes regarding hazardous materials. Tier 2 focuses on reporting the presence of hazardous substances, while TRI reports specifically track toxic releases into the environment. Both reports are essential for regulatory compliance and community health, but your environmental inventory requirements may vary. Uslegalforms can help clarify your obligations and streamline the reporting process for both Tier 2 and TRI.
