The Leadership styles of Punong barangays are categorized into participation, accountability, general organization and governance, continuity in the implementation of programs, predictability, and sustainability, and effective, responsive and provision of basic services.

Barangay Captain: The Barangay Captain, or Punong Barangay, assumes the role of the chief executive officer of the barangay.

Barangay Captain and Kagawad: A registered voter in the Barangay where the aspirant seeks to be elected; A resident in the Barangay for at least 1 year immediately preceding the day of the election; Able to read and write Filipino or any local language or dialect; and. At least 18 years of age on election day.

Chief Officials and Offices. - (a) There shall be in each Barangay a Punong Barangay, seven (7) Sangguniang Barangay members, the Sangguniang Kabataan chairman, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay treasurer. (b) There shall also be in every Barangay a Lupong Tagapamayapa.
