The eye test score represents the results of an individual's eye exam and indicates whether they meet the RCMP's vision standards. Generally, candidates strive for a score that indicates 20/20 vision, as this suggests adequate sight for duty. If candidates do not achieve the required score, they may have the opportunity to explore corrective measures before retaking the Rcmp Eye Exam. These scores are crucial in determining eligibility for RCMP service.

The test for eye investigation typically includes a series of assessments to evaluate visual acuity and eye health. During the Rcmp Eye Exam, candidates will perform standard visual tests, such as reading charts and undergoing peripheral vision assessments. In some instances, additional tests, including color perception tests, may also be included. Eyesight requirements for the RCMP mandate a minimum level of visual acuity. Monocular vision may be acceptable in some cases, but the Rcmp Eye Exam will thoroughly assess overall eye health and functionality. Tattoos are permitted if they do not depict or incite hate, harassment, or discrimination against individuals on the basis of the grounds listed in Canadian Human Rights Act, section 3. You may wear discreet personal effects on the body if they do not interfere with the effectiveness of personal protective equipment.

Visual Acuity Corrected vision (with glasses or contacts): Visual acuity must be at least 6/6 (20/20) in one eye and 6/9 (20/30) in the other. Uncorrected vision (without glasses or contacts): Visual acuity must be at least 6/18 (20/60) in each eye or 6/12 (20/40) in one eye and at least 6/30 (20/100) in the other eye.

Colour-blindness is an automatic medical disqualifier. You should have your eye doctor administer the Farnsworth D-15 examination, which is the test we use for visual assessments.

Must meet POST physical standards, including: vision at least 20/100 correctable to 20/30 in each eye, functional color vision and hearing loss no greater than 25 dB at 500-2500 Hz and 35 dB 3000 Hz.

Generally, to be a policewoman or policeman your vision with glasses needs to be 20/20, and at least 20/40 without glasses.
