A Visiting Scholar is generally a Professor of Law at another institution; a Visiting Researcher is generally someone who is working towards a graduate degree or doing postgraduate work at another institution.

Who Can Become a Visiting Scholar? Any scholar who has exceptional knowledge within their field of expertise may be eligible to become a visiting scholar, but requirements for each visiting scholar program will vary amongst different institutions and individual programs of study within those institutions.

The definition of visiting scholar includes any unpaid visiting faculty (i.e., Fulbright Scholars and faculty from other academic institutions during a period of sabbatical at their home institution), and qualified personnel from industry, government, or other organizations who wish to visit the University.

In academia, a visiting scholar, visiting scientist, visiting researcher, visiting fellow, visiting lecturer, or visiting professor is a scholar from an institution who visits a host university to teach, lecture, or perform research on a topic for which the visitor is valued.

Visiting Researchers typically collaborate with research and engineering teams at Google for 3 - 12 months.
