Muzukashii desu (むずかしいです) Meaning: Difficult. Muzukashii desu, on the other hand, is understood as a fairly clear (but polite) no.

Verb Groups Group 1: Verbs in group 1 end with the syllable ru (る), with the preceding syllable containing the vowels e or i. ... Group 2: Verbs in group 2 end with syllables ku (く), gu (ぐ), su (す), mu (む), nu (ぬ), bu (ぶ), u (う), tsu (つ), or ru (る). ... Group 3: Verbs in group 3 are suru (する "do") or kuru (くる "come").

The basic forms of Japanese verb are root form, nai form, ta form and nakatta form. We call these four forms "Plain Form". The plain form can be used instead of masu form in casual situations. Sentences that end with the plain form are less formal and each form refers to affirmative, negative and tense.

Nikui means “difficult” in Japanese.

Derived from the obsolete adjective 難い にく (difficult), 〜にくい is used to describe the difficulty of an action or achievement, in much the same way that we might say "difficult to do something" in English.

The dictionary form of SHIMASU (to do) is SURU, and its TA-form is SHITA (did). The dictionary form of KIMASU (to come) is KURU. Its TA-form is KITA (came). We have also made available the tables of conjugation patterns of verbs to the TE-form and the NAI-form in the Learning Tools pages for the past lessons.

There are around 2,000 verbs in Japanese. Verbs are expressed by Kanji in Japanese language, and the sum of mono-word(one Kanji word) verbs seems 2083 words. You might think there are many two-word(two Kanji words) verbs, but unexpectedly those are only 1817 words.

~にくい(~nikui) means that something is difficult to do or it takes great effort to do it.
