Provide a brief overview of disaster or emergency situation. Include the who, what, when, where of the event. Keep brief, no more than one or two paragraphs.

Begin by stating why you are writing the report and provide relevant background information. Present the information you would like to share in a clear and easy to read way. Explain how this information is relevant to the organization.

The SITREP is designed to inform the recipients of significant events within the state, emergency management resources, national alerts, FEMA Community Lifelines*, and a calendar of training opportunities available in the state.

The purpose of this form is to document the current status of an incident or event. It can be used in the planning process to organize information and /or track the progress of related issues.

The sitrep should include up-to-date, accurate and specific data about the humanitarian situation, and about CARE's response. It is particularly important that the sitrep provides details of CARE's response and of the actual relief delivered to beneficiaries. It should be concise and straight to the point.
