Au Pairs have 14 days to find and match with a new family. If they are unable to match, they will be sent back to their country. It is expected that if the Au Pair is living with the family, she should still be responsible to carry out her duties and the family should still pay her.

Au pairs and host families can terminate the au pair contract at any time by writing an informal letter to the other party, provided they honor the specified period of notice.

Can I be an au pair more than once? Yes! You can return to the USA as a repeat au pair. To qualify, you must be no older than 26, have successfully completed your original au pair program, and have resided outside of the USA for a period of two years.

If you don't feel as if you can resolve things on your own, you need to let your local childcare consultant know and he or she will schedule a mediation meeting with all of you. The consultant will come over to your house and sit down with all of you and see if you can come up with a possible solution.

Au pairs receive between 300 and 340 EUR pocket money per month in the Netherlands.

§ 62.31 Au pairs. (a) Introduction. This section governs Department of State-designated exchange visitor programs under which foreign nationals are afforded the opportunity to live with an American host family and participate directly in the home life of the host family.

Au pairs must receive a weekly stipend from the host family that is at least $195.75 per week. The weekly au pair stipend is a minimum payment requirement and host families and au pairs are free to agree to compensation higher than this legally applicable minimum.

Au Pair in America will notify the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and The Department of State if an applicant leaves the program prior to the end of the approved term, but does not exit the country. Providing child care beyond the approved term is illegal.
