Structured work experience helps students develop, practice and master work skills. Specific work-related skills and self-management skills are learned through hands-on paid experiences with community employers in apprenticeships, work study, or a summer job.

WLL and SWL are abbreviatons for Working Load Limit (WLL) and Safe Working Load (SWL). The main difference between the two terms is that SWL is the older term. Today, SWL isn't used anymore because the term is completely replaced with WLL and MRC. MRC stands for Maximum Rated Capacity.

SWL is defined as the maximum safe load that the lifting equipment can lift, move, suspend, and lower down to the ground without any problem of breaking.

It is a calculation of the Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) also known as Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) divided by a safety factor, usually ranging from 4 to 6 on lifting equipment. The factor can be as high as 10:1 or 10 to 1, if the equipment poses a risk to a person's life.

In all cases, SWL is strongly recommended.

All lifting equipment, including accessories, must be clearly marked to indicate their 'safe working loads' (SWL) - the maximum load the equipment can safely lift.
