Benefits for the Surviving Spouse of a 100% Disabled Veteran If your spouse dies with a 100% disability rating, you may be entitled to Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC). For 2024, the base rate of compensation for a surviving spouse is $1,612.75/month.

Exceeding the 85/15 ratio prohibits a school from certifying any new supported students. If the program exceeds 85 percent enrollment of supported students at the beginning of the term, no additional supported students may be certified until the program is compliant.

The VA 70/40 rule for TDIU requires veterans to have a combined disability rating of 70% or higher and at least one service-related disability rated at 40% or higher to be eligible for Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU) benefits.

For someone who is 60% disabled, 100 - 60 = 40. Your secondary condition is 50% disabling, starting from the 40% that represents the non-disabled portion of your body after your primary disability is taken into consideration. Subtracting 50% (20) from 40 gives you 20% of the body that is non-disabled.

The 55 Years Old Rule simply states that once a veteran reaches the age of 55, they are protected from such periodic C&P examinations and any reduction to their current disability ratings. There are, of course, certain exceptions, cancer in fact being one of them.
