High school athletes can generally play on up to three sports teams, one per season. Although there usually aren't any statewide rules against playing in more than one sport in the same season, it's extremely rare that this occurs.

Sport Specific Transfer Regulation – This rule states that the sports a student played in the most recent previous high school year (any level) determines eligibility in the coming school year should the student transfer and not meet one of the 15 stated exceptions.

Simply stated, the Athletic Eligibility Transfer rule states: “Any student who transfers from one high school to another for any reason is ineligible for Varsity competition for one year from the date of enrollment at the new school in any sport that the student played at ANY level in the previous twelve months.

Upon enrollment in the 9th grade, students are eligible to participate in athletics for four consecutive years. Eligible high school students should not reach the age of 19 prior to August 1 of the beginning school year.
