The Business Tax Minimal Activity License is for businesses that gross more than $3,000 but less than $100,000 annually. No annual tax return is required. The license must be renewed at the end of the fiscal year at both the city and county business tax offices.

Generally, the active duration for a financing statement is five (5) years, at which time it lapses unless it is continued. It remains active in the Secretary of State's files for one year after it lapses and is searchable in its database for that period of time.

In Tennessee, as a general rule, most contract suits must be commenced within six (6) years of the date the “cause of action accrues” or else they will be barred by the statute of limitations.
