Trace Required Field Certificate For Free

Visit any SSL-enabled website and click on the gray padlock in the address bar. A small popup will appear. Click on Certificate (valid). It will bring up the certificate window on your screen where you can see details, including subject, a validity period, and algorithms.

The original CRL file is created and stored at the issuer. It gets provided usually via http/https but other mechanism exists. To know which URL provides the CRL for a specific certificate look at the 'CRL Distribution Points' property of the certificate.

You can see the URLs for an SSL Certificate's CRLs by opening an SSL Certificate. Then, in the certificate's Details in the Certificate Extensions, select CRL Distribution Points to see the issuing CA's URLs for their CRLs.

Certutil.exe is the command-line tool to verify certificates and CRLs. To get reliable verification results, you must use certutil.exe because the Certificate MMC Snap-In does not verify the CRL of certificates.

Chrome has made it simple for any site visitor to get certificate information with just a few clicks: Click the padlock icon in the address bar for the website. Click on Certificate (Valid) in the pop-up. Check the Valid from dates to validate the SSL certificate is current.

If it finds the Issuer DN, a certificate status check is made using the specified OCSP responder that is associated with the Issuer DN. The Policy Server only performs OCSP checking and considers the certificate valid if the Policy Server finds the issue DN.

A certificate without revocation information cannot be revoked by its owner in case its private key is compromised. Browsers consult the Certificate Revocation List (CRL) or the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) endpoints that should be present in the certificate, in order to validate it.
