Tag Text License For Free

Prior to hunting deer, all deer hunters, regardless of age or license status, must obtain deer tags. They must have the tags in their possession while hunting deer, and immediately after harvesting a deer, tag the deer before moving it from where it was killed.

All hunters (unless license exempt) killing a bear, deer, elk, or turkey are required to validate an appropriate tag on their bear license, deer/turkey license, bonus deer permit, or special deer permit (DCAP, DMAP, or DPOP) prior to moving the animal in any way.

Hunters now have the option to tag and validate their deer harvest directly from their smartphone (via text). Learn more about electronic text-to-tag. If you have not claimed your tags for this year, click the first option. Locate your account using your SSN, LDWF number, or Driver's License number.

Log into your account at LouisianaOutdoors.com then click 'E-tag/Text-to-Tag' to enroll in electronic text-to-tag, then follow the steps below to tag and validate your harvest via your smartphone. As long as you complete the electronic tag before moving the animal, you do not have to attach a physical tag.

The hunter must: have the month and date of kill clearly cut out on the tag by notching the respective month and day. Do not ?ink out.? immediately complete, date and cut out the appropriate hunting license tag after a deer is harvested but before the deer is field dressed, moved or tagged.

If you choose to hunt whitetail deer, you must obtain a tag for your weapon. But, this isn't required for Texas exotics like axis deer. You can use a variety of weapons, including a rifle, crossbow or compound bow to kill an axis doe or buck. Every hunt can be as unique as you desire.

The season limit is six deer, not to exceed three antlered or four antlerless deer. There are some exceptions to this in certain areas.
